Příprava na mezinárodní zkoušku First (dříve FCE)

Protože od ledna 2015 má zkouška jiný formát než dosud, připravuji již studenty podle nových materiálů a učebnic. V novém formátu odpadá samostatný modul, který se dříve nazýval Use of English. Zkouška nyní vypadá následovně:

 

Paper 1: Reading and Use of English Practice Test  (7 parts/52 questions) - 1 hour 15 minutes

  • Part 1: Multiple-choice Cloze - 8 questions (Vocabulary – idioms, collocations, shades of meaning, phrasal verbs, fixed phrases etc.)
  • Part 2: Open Cloze - 8 questions (Grammar and vocabulary.)
  • Part 3: Word Formation - 8 questions (Vocabulary.)
  • Part 4: Key Word Transformation - 6 questions (Grammar and vocabulary.)
  • Part 5: Multiple Choice - 6 questions (Reading for detail, opinion, tone, purpose, main idea, implication, attitude.)
  • Part 6: Gapped Text - 6 quuestions (How to understand the structure and development of a text.)
  • Part 7: Multiple Matching - 10 questions Reading for specific information, detail, opinion and attitude.)

 

Paper 2: Writing (2 parts) - 1 hour 20 minutes

  • Part 1: one compulsory question (140 - 190 words)
  • Part 2: one question from a choice of three (140 - 190 words)

 

Paper 3: Listening (4 parts/30 questions) - 40 minutes

  • Part 1: (Multiple choice) - 8 questions (Listening for feeling, attitude, opinion, purpose, function, agreement, gist and detail.)
  • Part 2: (Sentence completion) - 10 questions (Listening for specific information, stated opinion.)
  • Part 3: (Multiple matching) - 5 questions (Listening for gist, attitude, opinion, purpose, feeling, main points and detail.)
  • Part 4: (Multiple choice) - 7 questions (Listening for attitude, opinion, detail, gist, main idea and specific information.)

 

Paper 4: Speaking (14 minutes per pair of candidates)

  • Part 1: (Interview) - Conversation with the examiner, the examiner asks questions and you may have to give information about your interests, studies, career, etc. Giving information about yourself and expressing your opinion about various topics. (2 minutes)
  • Part 2: (Long turn) - Talking about 2 photographs, Talking on your own about something: comparing, describing, expressing opinions, speculating. (1 minute per candidate)
  • Part 3: (Collaborative task) - Conversation with the other candidate. Exchanging ideas, expressing and justifying opinions, agreeing and/or disagreeing, suggesting, speculating, evaluating, reaching a decision through negotiation, etc. (3 minutes)
  • Part 4: (Discussion) - Further discussion with the other candidate, guided by questions from the examiner. Expressing and justifying opinions, agreeing and/or disagreeing.( 4 minutes)
